Damn Asians

Sunday, 23 October 2011

Why are Asians good at everything? It's so frustrating. I read in Time Magazine some time this year that the largest intake of foreign students at Ivy League schools in the US, are Asians.

Then again the whole Asian classification bothers me. Why aren't Indian people considered Asian? Is India not part of Asia? I have had, had one of those weekends steeped in pensive thought. Rethinking relationships and people, maybe it's that time of year? I don't usually blog to have a mental outlet. I think this mental trip has partly happened because of reading Nicki's blog this past week. Nicki gave birth to a beautiful little boy, Mika, this past week. He is absolutely gorgeous. Her blog has become so honest and tender lately. Although I probably will never have children, I really admire and empathize with Nicki.  I think the whole point of blogging is that you start to understand someone else's point of view. I love reading other peoples blogs. They make me smile and laugh and sometimes even cry with them.

Anyway, back to business. I have something absolutely beautiful to share with you today! It comes from an amazing advertising campaign, literally penned by Singapore-based art director and designer Chan Hwee Chong. Chan has used a single long line in a spiral pattern with variations in thickness to recreate famous artworks from history. The campaign is for Faber-Castell.  The level of precision and control is mind-blowing. Watch the short video below to see how he does it. A single line. Mind-blowing.
