Fancy Photos

Thursday, 7 July 2011

Many, many years ago there was a terrific band, called The Beatles. You may have heard of them? The one member of the band, Paul McCartney married a fantastic lady called Linda. Linda was a musician, animal rights activist and phenomenal photographer. Linda captured the likes of cultural icons Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, The Who, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Doors, John Lennon, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix and The Grateful Dead. She was the first woman to have a photograph featured on the front cover of Rolling Stone magazine (11 May 1968). She died in 1998, at the age of 56 of breast cancer.

Ok, I do not doubt the intelligence of my readers, sorry for dumbing that down for you. Most people know that Paul McCartney is a legend and married that gold-digger with her plastic leg a few years ago. I just struggled with a way to introduce this really incredible book, Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs. The book has been cultivated as a retrospective and features photographs from her archive which spans over 200 000 images. Photographs include the Swingin' Sixties, her final years with The Beatles, private moments, friends and icons. I stole the images from here and here, dirty thief that I am.
