You Are What You Eat

Friday, 25 March 2011

If you're an avid fan of the cooking channel or any food television network, I am sure you have come across Justin Bonello.
The first time I remember watching Justin was in his series, Cooked in Africa. Justin has a unique approach to cooking and missioned across Africa concocting recipes to feed his family, friends and crew. The shows were rad and were closely followed by cook books, an appearance in a Woolworths campaign (with Bill Granger-another chef crush I have) and now he leads the pack of an AWESOME awareness campaign

The Great Food Hoodwink. Watch the original on Vimeo.

The campaign makes you question the food we put into our bodies, how it is produced, how it is grown or raised and more importantly, the overall health of the produce.

Do you know where are the ingredients you ate for breakfast/lunch/dinner were produced or how it was grown? I encourage all my readers to visit Justin's Facebook page , watch the video, complete the questionaire and sign the petition for 'people want to eat real food' (If you can't find the link automatically go to the left hand side menu and click on participate). Spread the word and look after your body! Demand better produce and it will grow the supply!

Also if you are cooking up a storm this weekend there is a competition on the Cooked in Africa webpage called the Cooked Recipe Challenge!:
"With Easter around the corner, it’s a great time to get your taste buds going! This month’s competition is FUN and DELICIOUS and if you win, you’ll get an Easter basket filled with Cooked goodies!
Cook one of your favourite family recipes.
